Blogging Case Studies
During the last question time session there were a number of comments made about blogging and a request was made for examples of blogging used within departments to be made available to everyone. There are now a number of departments/teachers within Haringey that are experimenting with blogging and I felt that it would be good to give TTP participants the opportunity to check up on their progress every now and again. I am creating a Blog Dev Blog and inviting each teacher to record there progress on this so that we have central place to record the development.
The list is as follows:
Sue Kambalu from St Thomas More School has set up an RE hub. The hub links to blogs for Yr7, Yr8, Yr9, GCSE RS, AS RS, A2 RS and a general blog on Theology and Imagination. Sue is currently experimenting with the Yr 8 pupils and has set them a number of tasks . Sue is writing about her exploits on her own blog and her comments are certainly worth reading.
Tessa Ware from Alexandra Park school is currently designing a blogging hub for A’Level English students to work on tasks during the Summer Holidays. I will put up the links as soon as I get them.
John Keohane, Head of Geography at Hornsey School for Girls, is currently working on a Blogging hub for the Geography department. I will link this in soon.
Roseilee, AST Maths at Northumberland Park School, is creating some Maths blogs to encourage students to participate in challenges and activities and to act as a forum for revision materials and question papers. Dare to be different and Trendsetter.
The CLC is also experimenting with students and blogs through our Work Experience programme. This blog has links to the enterprise companies blogs and the tasks that they were set. We also hope to make links to the work that the students create.
I have also set up an example of using blogging to showcase a students work. This blog is for BTEC Performing Arts (Music) and would be a way of assessing students work and getting feedback from people outside of school as well.
The challenge is on to establish at least one blogging project in each school by September 2007. If there are any other staff out there who want to be involved then please contact me at the CLC. Please check out these blogs and comment on the posts as it can be very encouraging for the students.
